Rains County, TX borders Hunt (along its northern edge) near Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex region giving us a 2020 census population estimate standing at 14,347 making it one of least populated counties located hereabouts. Its county seat is Emory although other cities include Point & Quitman whilst Emory itself equates out to Rains’ most populous town aside from aforementioned county seat. This area had been created out of Hopkins & Wood Counties back in 1870 – posthumously named after Emmett Rains who represented Texan interests during Reconstruction period immediately following Civil War some years earlier.
