Motley County is situated across Northwest Texas just south from New Mexico state line in a unique environment blending Chihuahuan desert topography with grassland plains commonly identified across Great Plains region. Established in 1876 it currently harbors around 1 thousand inhabitants concentrated mostly into two towns: Roaring Springs—county seat since 1880; and Matador where visitors can enjoy attractions like Wheelock Witch Museum—a replica of a Witch House built by local carpenter on his own free will nearly hundred years ago.
