Latimer County is located in east-central Oklahoma and exists since before statehood - 16th May 1907 - when Wilburton became established as its county seat although other cities such as Bokoshe, Fanshawe and Red Oak also feature across its 1300 km² (501 sq mi). According to information from the United States Census Bureau puts Latimer's population estimate at 11 215 individuals; giving Latimer undisputedly classification amongst some of less densely populated counties found encompassed within Oklahomas boundary lines.
