Pope County is located in Southern Illinois with a population of 4,277 people. The county seat is Golconda but there are three other villages that serve as important community centers: Ozark, Eddyville and Elizabethtown. Pope County contains several state parks and conservation areas offering outdoor recreation opportunities such as camping, fishing, hunting and hiking.
